My name is Alastair Begley, having graduated from the University of Exeter in 2012 I am now a Mechanical Engineer at Rolls-Royce in Bristol. While I was at university I was a keen photographer and freelanced in equestrian photography, which is why I set this website up. The name MasterPlan came from the name of the horse I used to ride who was called Cloons Master Plan.
This website was originally setup to sell my equestrian photos. despite having sold all of my camera gear to fund climbing, I decided to keep the website running as a personal log of what I have been up to.
I spent most of my free time in the summer rock climbing around the UK, as I am fortunate enough to live in Bristol I can get out into the lower Wye valley after work or even climb just outside of the city centre in Avon Gorge. I have a particular passion for sea cliffs and I often find myself making day trips over to Pembroke, although when conditions allow I enjoy getting out in the mountains.
Despite living in the south, I love winter climbing. Due to the fickle conditions in North Wales and the Lake District, I often make weekend trips to Scotland when the conditions are good in order to get my climbing fix, although I do look forward to the times when conditions are good a little further south. In the future would love to use these mountaineering skills on an expedition to some of the greater ranges.
